Her plan is to repay that debt with the souls of Briga City’s inhabitants. The ritual is interrupted when the Spirit Fragment falls from her possession, allowing the story to move into a direct confrontation.

Once the residents are gathered at the port, the story shifts from investigation to confrontation. Papaloto accepts Verbena’s proposed payment but is dissatisfied with the quality of the offering. The Spirit Fragment then falls, and Papaloto offers a new contract: defeat him in battle to claim the fragment, or risk losing it to the underworld.

The battle is framed as a wager rather than a standard trainer encounter. You cannot freely treat it as a routine fight, so bring a balanced party and avoid relying on only one offensive type. The confrontation includes several Pokémon with different defensive profiles, making switching and healing important.

The area also contains a tablet describing four figures connected to the Great Spirit. The names associated with the prophecy include Derringer, Gala, Isaiah, and Volcy. Treat this discovery as a story clue rather than an immediate battle objective; the next direct goal remains finding the Spirit Fragment near Terrible Town.

The chapter ends with several unresolved plot threads. Papaloto recognizes the protagonist as the reincarnation of a former trainer connected to Astrum. This revelation raises questions about the protagonist’s past and explains why Papaloto takes unusual interest in the encounter.

The story also shifts briefly to Apollo’s training sequence. His mentor explains that the Link is an ancient technique associated with Mega Evolution and emphasizes that Apollo’s greatest rival is himself. This scene is important for character development, but it does not change the immediate route objective.

Gala’s possible connection to the Ant Clan is also questioned. The dialogue does not settle her loyalty, so avoid treating suspicion as confirmed evidence. The most reliable progression clue is the instruction to travel west from Briga City toward Terrible Town.
